Watering :
Prefers rich, well-drained soil. Water more frequently during the first year after planting. Add mulch at the base of the plant to retain moisture and reduce the frequency of watering.
Maintenance :
Remove the faded flowers. Prune after flowering. Fertilize with a granular 7-14-14 fertilizer in the spring. Tie the branches with a rope in the fall to prevent them from breaking under the weight of the snow.
