Description :
The white elder is a fast-growing native shrub. The compound leaves are dark green. It sends out long canes from the ground , to form a clump that flares at the top. In June , the large white flowers produce heavy clusters of fruits that turn purple , almost black. They are used to make syrup , jams , spirits. Birds also enjoy them. It is a shrub that is at its best in large gardens. Its rooting is deep.
