Who doesn't want plants that grow quickly for a well-decorated space?
Today I'm talking to you about 3 plants that I really like, which grow quickly. They can triple in size in just one year.
Pothos Marble Queen & Snow Queen
Of course, pothos was going to be on the list!
Pothos is a plant that we often see, it’s a beautiful green plant, easy to care for. Today, I'm telling you about the Marble Queen, a variety that is quite well-known and stands out for its white variegation on the leaves. It is different from the Golden pothos, which has golden variegation (The Marble Queen is one of my favorites!).
Care? It’s very simple.
You need to water it when the soil is dry, and it likes to be in a well-lit room but without direct sunlight on its foliage. However, it can tolerate shade, but the leaves will grow more spaced out on the stem. It is a plant that is very easy to propagate in water. In addition to growing quickly, it is easy to reproduce. What more could you ask for?
Note that the Snow Queen pothos is simply a Marble Queen pothos that has been very exposed to the sun during its conception. It is a climbing plant in nature, so it is possible to put it on a stake to have larger leaves. Otherwise, it is often seen as a trailing plant in our homes.
String of Hearts or Spades?
The String of Hearts is a plant that we don't talk about often enough, I think! It's a beautiful trailing plant with heart-shaped leaves. I love placing it on top of a cabinet on a shelf or in a hanging planter.
However, its care is a bit more difficult than some green plants. In fact, the String of Hearts is treated a bit like a succulent. So, lots of sun, well-draining soil or cactus soil, and water when the soil is dry. For me, my two Strings of Hearts are doing very well even when they are NOT in direct sunlight. But lots of indirect rays. They are even happier under grow lights. At home, I also have the 'Variegata' String of Hearts, which is beautiful with a bit of variegation on the leaves.
It's important to be careful with overwatering, as the roots can easily rot if we are too generous.
Philodendron Micans
The Philodendron Micans stands out a lot with the velvety look of its leaves. Its dark green foliage is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful I know. It is also a climbing plant in nature but is generally placed as a trailing plant in our homes.
The care for the philodendron is exactly the same as for the pothos, with one exception. Its roots are a bit more fragile and it tolerates drought less well. You still have to let the soil dry between waterings, but don’t forget it too often (I almost killed my Philodendron Brasil because I forgot it… oops!). You also have to be careful not to damage the roots during repotting.
The Micans can grow very fast if given the right care. Mine has quadrupled in just 1 year. I also propagate it very frequently in moist sphagnum moss. It likes to be in well-draining soil.
I hope I have inspired you to further beautify your decor with these suggestions.
