Easy to maintain, cacti and succulents are currently in vogue. We all love to give a tropical touch to our decor, especially when it requires minimal care for maximum results. With the ever-growing demand, the supply is increasing proportionally and offers varieties with colors and textures as diverse as they are unusual to customers eager for new products! Follow your Passion Jardins' social media for arrivals; the selection is impressive: there's something for every taste and every decor style.

Cacti and succulents need a lot of light and a good dose of warmth to be happy. They thrive very well in a shallow depth of potting soil, which offers very interesting arrangement opportunities. The soil must be well-drained to prevent the plant roots from soaking in water: they hate it and will rot quite quickly. Therefore, it is important to choose good potting soil for indoor plants, which you can mix with a portion of sand. If your pot is deep enough, place a layer of gravel at the bottom so the water drains more easily, and don't forget to make a few holes in the bottom of the container and avoid leaving water in the saucer.

Highlighting Cacti and Succulents

Do you want to create original arrangements for your plants? The possibilities abound with cacti and succulents. Here are a few to inspire you.

1. Surprising Pots

Cacti and succulents can grow in any container. They don't really have a preference for material: plastic, ceramic, glass, metal, and even wood. It's time to put your creative and eco-friendly side to use and reuse old containers you have at home: brightly painted tin cans, a beautiful porcelain cup, or grandma's jewelry box you can't bear to throw away. Arrange them in clusters of different heights to create a wow effect or place them in various spots in your decor. Try to place them near windows so they can benefit from maximum brightness, without being too exposed to direct sunlight, which can burn them. To keep them at their best, water them occasionally when the soil is very dry and mist their leaves. If possible, rotate the pot so that all sides of the plant receive a good amount of light.

2. Terrariums

Besides being a fun activity to do with children, terrariums allow you to adapt the plants to your decor. Choose a container, fill it with potting soil, and place the varieties of cacti and succulents you like. Make sure to check with the garden center advisor that the chosen plants have the same needs, in terms of light and water, among others, to prevent some plants from overpowering others. Complete your arrangement with colored sand or stones, pieces of wood, shells, or even figurines that match your interior decoration. You will find terrarium containers to hang or suspend in stores. Another beautiful way to enhance your home.

3. Miniature

Have you ever heard of miniature gardens? On a very small surface or in a small container, you recreate an entirely mini arrangement. You will find several micro succulents that will allow you to create these small arrangements and will surely pique curiosity. You can create villages for invented characters or reproduce any scene of daily life in miniature. Ideal for small spaces and to awaken the creativity of both young and old. 4. Maximizing Space with Vertical Gardens

Since cacti and succulents need little potting soil to thrive, they can be used to create all kinds of plant frames. Choose a frame with some depth, in the shape of your choice, fill it with potting soil mixed with sphagnum moss, and cover it with chicken wire to hold everything in place. You can cover the mix with finishing moss for a more aesthetic look, at your discretion. Use pliers to make holes in the wire to insert the plants you want to display on your frame. Create a mosaic of colors and textures that you will enjoy. Feel free to move the plants around to achieve the perfect model for you. Keep the frame flat for a few weeks, allowing the plants to root well before hanging it on the wall or standing it up on a piece of furniture. Lay it flat again for occasional watering and misting to maintain its shape. The sphagnum moss will trap the required moisture.

5. Suspensions and Macramé

With the resurgence of the bohemian style, macramé is back in fashion. With its tone-on-tone knotted cords, it enhances walls and serves as a support for different types of plants, including succulents. There are various trailing succulent varieties that are very beautiful when suspended. By adjusting the length of your macramé cords, you can also use more compact species and place them at eye level to appreciate their full splendor. Combine several plants and macramés to create a focal point in a room, the bathroom, why not?! Heat and humidity go very well with cacti and succulents. As long as there is enough light, there's no reason to miss out!

Cacti and succulents are suitable for all occasions. Use them as a decor element, a centerpiece, hang them, suspend them, and offer them as gifts in their most beautiful containers. They are sure to please, and since they are easy to maintain, you can't go wrong!
